Roswell Nonprofit Second Wind Dreams

Roswell-based Second Wind Dreams® is a 501(c)3 internationally recognizd nonprofit organization involved in more than 1000 eldercare communities in 20 countries. Weaving thousands of dreams from the basic to the sublime, their mission is simple: to change the perception of aging by fulfilling dreams and offering innovative educational opportunities to caregivers and their communities.

Founder P.K. Beville wrote a book titled Second Wind ($9.95 to $19.95 on Amazon) about many of the wonderful, colorful and sometimes hysterical people who live and work in nursing homes. She has designed and implemented mental health programs currently used in 800 nursing homes in the U.S.

With a B.S. degree in Psychology from Georgetown College and Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Kentucky University, she began to develop their flagship program Virtual Dementia Tour® which offers sensitivity training to change negative perceptions of aging.

She has been recognized by several organizations, including being named an Outstanding Southerner of the Year by Southern Living magazine; a Phenomenal Woman of North Fulton by the American Business Woman’s Association; a recipient of the WXIA 11Alive Community Service Award for her work with residents of eldercare communities; a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from LeadingAge Georgia for her contributions to the field of aging; a recipient of the TBS Pathfinder Award for Volunteer Pioneers; a recipient of the Top 100 Volvo Heroes Award; a recipient of Harlequin’s More Than Words Award for her work with residents of eldercare communities; and, a recipient of the L’Oreal Paris Woman of Worth Award.
