SURE! PURE Taqueria Making Their Own Tortillas

Local favorite PURE features Tex-Mex with a chef-driven twist

freshest ingredients | live music | rooftop bar | margaritas

In its 7th year in Roswell, PURE Taqueria lives up to the PURE reputation with its attention to detail in service, menu, drinks and live music. Good vibes.

New handmade corn tortillas are rolling out this November at PURE - the corn is prepared in-house – soaked, cooked, washed and hulled – using the traditional “nixtamal” method. This process acts like a detox for the corn and naturally enriches the tortillas with nutrients such as calcium, iron and zinc.

One hop, skip and a jump from downtown Roswell, tucked behind a blossoming chaste tree, is PURE Taqueria – home to fresh, authentic Mexican food and a creative, coastal atmosphere. Bold signage and a rooftop bar combine to elicit intrigue on Alpharetta Street; it’s hard to miss but, trust us, you wouldn’t want to. Curb appeal aside, what goes on inside is truly impressive.

Contemporary clean lines and minimalistic shades of creamsicle embrace guests as they enjoy complimentary chips and salsa. When it comes time to order, the menu offers a variety of, quite literally, PURE dishes – plenty of which are vegetarian and gluten-free. And all of it you can feel good about putting into your body.

Guests should be most excited about the new handmade corn tortillas, rolling out this November at PURE. The corn is prepared in-house – soaked, cooked, washed and hulled – using the traditional “nixtamal” method. This process acts like a detox for the corn and naturally enriches the tortillas with nutrients such as calcium, iron and zinc. There’s nothing quite so simple or mouthwatering as an authentic, warm, handmade tortilla, especially when it envelops sautéed pork, marinated beef, fried shrimp or citrus-grilled fish.

Each and every day, PURE strives for maximum authenticity, freshness and purity. The menu reflects this goal, featuring items such as the Burrito Ahogado, comprised of your choice of all-natural beef, roasted pork or chipotle chicken, with rice, queso gringo, black beans, sour cream and two different salsas. Other favorite dishes include the Quesadillas Del Mercado (handmade quesadillas in the style of Mexico City, with zucchini blossom, portobello mushroom and poblano rajas) and Camarones a la Parrilla (grilled chile-crusted shrimp, corn masa cakes, guacamole, pico de gallo and charred tomatillo salsa).

To ensure maximum freshness, PURE handpicks menu items according to their best season. For example, the Ensalada Verano (Salad of Summer) was recently replaced with the Ensalada de Otoño (Salad of Fall), which features a more autumnal variety of ingredients, including “crispy Brussels sprout leaves, shaved Brussels sprouts, baby gem, dried cherries, spicy pumpkin seeds, avocado, goat cheese, granny smith apples and a honey-lemon vinaigrette.”

PURE offers 13 distinctive, ever-strong margaritas to choose from, including the PURE Double Barrel Margarita (Herradura double barrel reposado, lime, agave nectar and Combier orange liqueur), the Sedgwick Margarita (texas margarita, Lunazul and reposado floater) and this season’s Frida Artistry Series Margarita (a tribute to the famous Ms. Kahlo featuring “fresh muddled pineapple, grilled-pineapple-infused Frida Kahlo tequila, vanilla bean, cardamom and a clove-sugar rim”). The Frida Margaritas come in a delightfully painted take-home glass.

The Sedgwicks have done it again. As of 2018, the locally-renowned restaurateurs have opened six PURE taqueria locations in metro Atlanta (Roswell, Alpharetta, Brookhaven, Duluth, Inman Park and Woodstock). Although it remains local, PURE has been recognized by Nation’s Restaurant News as one of the top 50 burgeoning brands in the United States. PURE Franchising is headed by Peyton Sedgwick.

Meanwhile, Sedgwick Restaurant Group offer an entire cornucopia of cuisines in restaurants around North Atlanta: Vinny’s on Windward (Cali-Italian), Aspens Signature Steaks, Theo’s Brother’s Bakery, Big Willie’s Hot Stuff (Old-School Southern), The Union Restaurant, MADE Kitchen & Cocktails and soon to open 7 Acre BarNGrill in Milton – together proudly offering “food for every mood.”
