Mayor's Minute: Mayor Lori Henry
SUMMER IN ROSWELL has officially begun! School is out and vacations are being planned and taken. However, you do not need to leave Roswell to enjoy the summer.
There is so much to do in Roswell that having a staycation is easy. If you love the outdoors, Roswell’s extensive trail system is a great way to enjoy nature and get some exercise in. We have more than 31 miles of trails throughout the city to explore.
Another way to enjoy the natural beauty of Roswell is to spend time on the river. Renting a kayak or tubing down the river is a great way to spend an afternoon. The City of Roswell also hosts a number of family events throughout the summer. Roswell’s July 4th Extravaganza will be held at Roswell High School again this year and will feature live music, a kids’ zone, great food and, of course, the fireworks display.
On the first Saturday of each month during the summer, Roswell hosts the Riverside Sounds concert series at 7 p.m. at Riverside Park. Bring your lawn chairs and blanket and come out and enjoy the evening. The City’s signature event during the summer months is Alive in Roswell. Held the third Thursday of the month, this street party on Canton Street is a great way to spend the evening with friends and family.
There is so much to do here in Roswell during the summer that I cannot fit everything into this short article. However, if you visit roswellgov.com and pull up our calendar, you will find there is something for everyone to enjoy. Have a great summer! #LH
