By Claire Murphy
April 23 • Roswell Cultural Arts Center • 950 Forrest Street, Roswell, GA 30075 | In a salute to the late Artistic Director Bob Farley, Joe Gransden’s Big Band will play many of his favorites.
JOE GRANSDEN HAD BEEN ABLE TO SIT DOWN WITH BOB FARLY AT HIS RETIREMENT CELEBRATION BEFORE HE PASSED AWAY AND DISCOVERED ALL OF FARLEY’S FAVORITES. From Sinatra to Goodman to Count Basie, this tribute show features all of the best and will be a fun, farewell tribute to Farley for all who knew him.
Farley, Co-founder and Artistic Director of GET passed away unexpectedly in late 2017 less than a month after he and his wife Anita accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Suzi Bass Awards. Robert J. Farley, 69, was a passionate leader, a committed artist, but most importantly a much beloved husband, father, and grandfather. In memory of Bob, GET has established the Robert J. Farley Memorial Fund.
Alan Kilpatrick, who was taking over as artistic director of the company said, “His passing diminishes theater in Atlanta. I believe Bob had the largest heart and had more respect for theater artists than any producer I’ve ever worked with.” Last year, GET released a statement honoring Farley professionally and personally. “Bob was a person of many talents and interests. He kept his hands on the reins and his shoulder to the wheel for 25 years at Georgia Ensemble Theatre, and at the Alliance Theatre and Alaska Repertory Theatre before that. His leadership and influence were truly something special.” www.get.org
